Further New Services and Enhancements to SYC Portal

The Syariah Court will be implementing the following further new E-Services in divorce proceedings from 12 February 2025:

a. Filing of Certificate under Section 17 of the Legal Aid and Advice Act
b. Filing of Application for Summons to a Witness (Subpoena)

Please refer to Registrar’s Circular No. 1 of 2025 for more details. 

The following enhancements have also been made to existing E-Services and the SYC Portal:

i. Appointments for hakam sessions will be viewable on the Dashboard in the SYC Portal
ii. All applicable supporting documents are required to be uploaded when filing an Amended Case Statement and an Amended Memorandum of Defence
iii. Where an Originating Summons for divorce has not been served or validly served by a Plaintiff and a Notice of Appointment of Solicitor or Notice of Change of Solicitor is filed for a Plaintiff, the Plaintiff’s solicitor will be able to select/re-select the manner of intended service in the Service of Originating Summons Module. 
iv. Where an Acknowledgement of Service is filed pursuant to a selection in the Service of Originating Summons Module, its status (if not accepted) will be available in the Divorce>Ongoing Filing section or (if accepted) in the Divorce>Completed Filing section.  The accepted Acknowledgement of Service will be available in the Divorce> Court File>Court Documents section.
v. Users may delete any document whose status is indicated as ‘Draft’ in the SYC Portal.  Draft documents will be automatically deleted after 6 months from the date of its creation. 
vi. The Originating Summons Number of a case will be shown for all filing submissions, documents and payment tasks in the SYC Portal generated on or after 24 October 2024.  Users may accordingly use the Search box function to search for the relevant document or task.
