Enhancement to existing E-Services and the SYC Portal July 2025

The Syariah Court will be implementing the following enhancements to existing E-Services and the SYC Portal from 24 July 2025:

 

  1. Inheritance E-Services
    • Extension of the validity period for applications for inheritance certificate to 60 days from 30 days.
    • Extension of the timeline for submission of Statutory Declaration (SD) to 14 days from 7 days.
    • Removal of the payment deadline for approved inheritance certificate.
    • Removal of the time limit for download of approved inheritance certificate.
  2. Service of Originating Summons (“OS”) via SYC Portal
    • After the Plaintiff or the Plaintiff’s solicitor selects and makes payment for Service via SYC Portal in the Service of Originating Summons Module, an email will be sent to the Defendant’s email address (as provided by the Plaintiff or Plaintiff’s solicitor at the time of filing the OS) to inform the Defendant to login to the SYC Portal and accept service of the OS via SYC Portal.
    • After the Defendant accepts service via the SYC Portal, an email will be sent to the Plaintiff or the Plaintiff’s lawyer, and to the Defendant (at the email address provided by the Plaintiff at the time of filing the OS), informing that the Defendant has accepted service of the OS via SYC Portal. 
  3. Where the filing of a Summons (Application for Substituted Service) is selected from the Service of OS Module, the draft of the application (if not submitted) and the submitted filing may be found at the Divorce>Ongoing Filing section. If the filing is subsequently accepted or rejected, it may be found at the Divorce>Completed Filing section. The accepted Summons (Application for Substituted Service) and Affidavit-in-Support may be found at the Divorce>Court File>Court Documents section.
  4. New Divorce Certificate Availability section under the Divorce tab.
  5. Appointments for Notice of Appeal Against Registrar’s Decision (“NAR”) is viewable in the parties’ or their solicitors’ dashboard and the Notice to Attend Court may be found at the Divorce>Court File>Court Notices section.
  6. Pursuant to amendments to the Muslim Marriage and Divorces Rules, updates to fee waiver requests.
  7. Where a Defendant's solicitor is appointed after a Defendant files the Memorandum of Defence, and the solicitor files an Amended Memorandum of Defence (“AMOD”), the accepted AMOD will be available through the solicitor's portal instead of the Defendant's Portal.
